The AOC Saint-Emilion-Grand-Cru covers the same geographical area as that of Saint-Emilion and is located in the Libournais on the right bank of the Dordogne. To carry the Grand Cru label, the production conditions are stricter than those of the AOC Saint-Emilion: a yield limited to 40hl/ha and a mandatory aging of 12 months. The appellation covers 4,030 ha of limestone, clay-loam and sandy soils. Merlot dominates the blends of this AOC, but Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon are also vinified here. Saint-Émilion-Grand-Cru produces 150,291 hl of red wines each year.
2015, an extraordinary, highly sought-after vintage!
Tasting: Deep robe, garnet. Concentrated smoky woody nose, frame of fresh fruit (blackberry) and flowers (peony). Structured mouth, which is based on a noble oak and a ripe fruit in full possession of its means. A beautiful vintage that requires patience.
